FAQ's
The average delivery time can differ depending on the size of your order and our current stock levels. The estimated delivery time is shown on screen when you place your items in your basket. The delivery date is always dictated by the product in your basket with the longest delivery time. Please note that these are estimated, so it is best to give us a call if you would like to know a more specific date.
All of our products are made from wet-cast concrete. The surface of the products are smooth and matt in texture. We vibrate the concrete during manufacture to get rid of air holes on the surface.
We use the highest quality concrete dyes available to achieve our colours and these are added to the concrete while it is mixing. This means that the colour goes right the way through the product. It is not a coating that has been applied to the surface so is unlikely to fade or change colour over time. If you cut a sandstone coping in half for example, you will see that it is sandstone colour on the inside too. You may notice a slight lightening of the product over time as it dries out and the charcoal colour has been known to lighten slightly after exposure to high levels of sunlight. A concrete sealer can be used to prevent this and also darken them back down, but we recommend that you call us first and we can advise you on the best one to use that will not void your warranty.
Products should be removed from the packaging within a few days of receiving them and laid out without anything resting on the surfaces. This will reduce the occurrence of a problem called ‘Pinto’ which is the result of moisture becoming trapped under the polystyrene packaging leaving darker stripes on the surface of the products. This issue is treatable by a few methods shown in this link: http://www.bridgeman.co.nz/pinto.html , and will also fade over time. But it is best to avoid this problem altogether by unpacking the products as quickly as possible from the pallet.
Normally we recommend an overhang on all of our products. As a general rule of thumb, a minimum of 30mm overhang either side of the wall or pillar is recommended. This allows enough room for the drip channel underneath to function properly and stop the rain water running down the surface of your brickwork.
All of our products are suitable for drilling and cutting. A Stihl Saw fitted with a smooth stone cutting blade gives the best and smoothest cut.
We would recommend that you order a few extra pieces when placing your order to cover for any damages that may occur. We do have a repair kit that can be sent out to you which can repair most chips and damage if needed. Call us for details.
Our products do not need to be sealed or treated and are ready to fit to your wall and withstand the elements. If you do choose to treat them with an after market product, then please be aware that this may affect your warranty. Also, De-Icer’s and Rock Salts must be kept away from our products as they can cause damage to the surface. You can read more about this here: http://accoladespw.com/rock-salt-damage
This is very dependent on the location of the products. If you have a lot of trees or greenery overhanging them, you may find that moss and algae build up over time. The best way to clean them is by using some hot soapy water and a sponge or soft scrubbing brush, then rinse with a hose. Avoid using any harsh acidic products such as patio cleaner. We do not recommend using a pressure washer as there is a chance it could remove the protective smooth surface.
Products can be returned as long as they have not been removed from the original packaging on the pallet and have been re-packed securely. You may be liable for shipping costs involved depending on the reason for your return. You can find more information on our Delivery and Returns policy on our Terms and Conditions page here.
