How to protect your Copings and Pier Caps

 

Protecting your brickwork with coping stones and pier caps in crucial but you can also take a few simple steps to help protect your wall capping and ensure it stands the test of time.  The British weather really does have it all, high winds, lashing rain, long dry spells, snow and pelting hail.  So how can you protect your concrete capping products once on your wall or pillar?

Classical Creations recommends the use of Thompsons Water Seal to help protect your concrete products from weathering.  Their masonry protector forms a vital barrier to prevent water damage.  It also makes it more difficult for mildew and UV damage.  This handy solution can easily by applied to your copings and dries clear.  It can help maintain the copings natural colour and surface.

Keeping your products clean and free from moss, algae and lichens will also help.  Routine cleaning and maintenance is required to keep the overall appearance of products in pristine condition.

Regularly inspect your walls and copings, looking out for any tell tail signs of weathering or damage.

If you are worried about exposure to water we can fit a “drip channel” on either side which prevents rain water from running down the face of your wall, thus protecting it from weathering.  Please specify this when ordering.
